MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST. TEACHER. WRITER, DRAWER.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I am an experienced multimedia journalist at the Toledo Blade who specializes in food, art, and culture features and profiles. However, I can produce full content packages in general assignment work from spot hard news to sports, to archive development for contextual pieces on community history.
When my work is at its best, it brings people to light while bringing out the light in them. Though not the most common serious pursuit, I produce “good news” journalism that typically showcases personalities.
In regards to historical development, I am also in a unique interdepartmental position at The Blade where I have created and currently maintain, as well as design artwork for sale, for our licensing and memorabilia site thebladevault.com.
There is a community investment aspect to this that may prove transferable to the Traverse City area and its own rich history.
Outside of The Blade, I teach a single college course in visual storytelling journalism — which I affectionately call, "How to use a camera and talk to strangers" — at Owens Community College as an adjunct instructor.
A couple years ago I fell in love with Northern Michigan, and this past year I began looking seriously at moving to Traverse City.
I would love to produce this same kind of fulfilling work for Northern Michiganders, as well as develop my teaching career in the area.
Thank you for your time, I very much look forward to discussing opportunities available!
References are of course available upon request.
THANK YOU/
